16 has been an active standardization body, working on the standardization
since 1999, and it continues to do so. Standardization is an ongoing process that is
constantly either adjusting the standard or adding additional features. As it continues
to standardize the protocol, there are also industry consortiums that are working
together to facilitate growth in this field.

At the time of this writing, there are several ongoing or recent task groups within
IEEE 802.16 enhancing the standard. These task group and their activities include

In addition to the IEEE 802.16 organization, perhaps the organization with the most
activity is the WiMAX Forum.
