The goals of the DOCSIS 3.0 specification are to increase the per-user and aggregate data
rates significantly, to support IPv6 over Ethernet natively, and to provide tools for the
operator to provision and manage IP multicast streams. The DOCSIS 3.0 specification
utilizes channel bonding technology, where multiple physical layer channels are combined
in the MAC layer to produce a higher capacity link.
